One of the most beautiful bicycle tours in Europe is the Ciclovia Alpe Adria. This bicycle tour leads you through Italy and Austria. It is 425km long and connects the most beautiful places: the Alps, Salzburg and Grado – where you can see the beautiful Adriatic Sea.

The bicycle tour is very variegated and presents different characteristic things from Austria and Italy. You drive through woods, alpine valleys, you pass streaming brooks, transit mediaeval small towns full of history. It is worth visiting those.

Furthermore the whole tour is very well marked and also convenient for beginners: there are not a lot parts which have not been modernized yet; if there are you can make a detour.

It is situated perfectly for all those who want to complete the bicycle tour and need a break in between the single stages. Including a well-deserved and silent sleep, even for those, who just would love to do little or also bigger excursions to Austria or Slovenia. The landscape which arises in front of the eyes from the bike-tourists are impressive: web transfers, tubes and bridges, structures of the 18 th century, one beautiful town follows the other one and it is possible to fill up energy there. Tarvis is situated only a view kilometres away from our Bed & Breakfast – in the direction North (Austria-Slovenia). It is one of the most liked and important skiing areas of Friaul. Surrounded by the Alps and full with beautiful valleys and woods. The forest of Tarvis has about 24.000 hectare and is the biggest public forest of Italy. The little city is modern but also antique, full with traditional restaurants and other things. Because of the unique position of Tarvis – almost next to the border – different cultures meet there: Italy, Slovenia and Austria.

You can find an excellent culture of cooking in Tarvis. With specialities from Friaul, but also Carinthia and Slovenia. The church of pilgrimage “Monte Santo di Lussari” is situated close to Tarvis. Tarvis offers a lot for people who love to spend their leisure activities in the nature. Close to Tarvis you can find the lakes “Laghi di Fusine” (a beautiful hiking path around the lake), the high plateu from Montasio and a skiing area (Sella Nevea). If you drive in the direction of Pontebba you should make a stop at the one-time railway station from “Chiusaforte”. There is a beautiful museum about the history of the railway in Pontebba.
